Meet Our Designers: The Fifth Season Artworks

Meet Our Designers is a regular feature. Each week one of Trove’s members is featured on our social media and here on our news pages. Follow Trove on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to stay up-to-date.

Trove’s Designers and Artists are local Canberrans and all their gorgeous products are handmade.

Please meet Jennifer from The Fifth Season Artworks – Jennifer’s stunningly colourful work ranges from gouache paintings, to lino cuts to oil on canvas. Her subject matter includes the most refreshing images of Canberra, south coast beaches and Sydney. Jennifer will tell you that she became an artist almost by mistake after training in Textile Design at the University of Technology in Sydney. Thank Goodness for that mistake! Jennifer is a joint winner of the 2016 Inaugural Sheridan Arts Award for artwork relating to Ocean Pools with her lino print “Pools of Sydney”.

We asked Jennifer what she likes about a handmade product – “it has a beauty captured by its maker, a snapshot of unique, one of a kind and loved by the creator as well as the new owner. Giving a handmade product is giving love.” You can certainly feel the love in Jennifer’s “snapshots” available at Trove Canberra.

Of her work, Jennifer says “I feel very blessed to have painted for almost 25 years. I am inspired almost every day to create and explore new mediums and landscapes. Moving away from the sea has changed my colour palette and challenged me to look closer at the environment I live in. There is no greater honour as an artist, to have someone respond to my art and place it in their home.”

Come on in to Trove to see, feel and take home one of Jennifer’s lovely images or discover more on The Fifth Season Artworks Designer Profile.
