‘a little bird made me’ specialises in quirky tea paraphernalia. Theresa is the little bird behind the products, designing accessories that celebrate her love of a good cup of tea. She describes herself as a slightly flighty little bird who likes to play with all sorts of materials and ideas in her creative process, rather than staying with just one, so you will find her designing and making woollen tea cosies, soy wax tea scented candles in vintage teacups, jewellery including earrings and necklaces made from miniature dolls house tea sets, reusable organic cotton tea bags, teacup planters, and many other gorgeous accessories that centre around her central theme of tea.

She divides her design aesthetic into two categories with the first being bright, colourful, occasionally over the top designs, and the second focussed on classic, more subdued designs with a twist.

Theresa explains “a little bird made me was born in 2012-13 when I needed a creative outlet to balance the demands of my fulltime job as a lawyer and being a single parent to three young children. I needed something that was about me, and found myself sewing addictively every evening after the kids were in bed. When it got to the point that I had gifted all of my friends and family with my creations, my sister bought my domain name and pushed me to start creating on a professional basis. Fast forward to 2018 and I am no longer employed outside the home. I live on a property just outside Canberra with my children, one of whom has special needs. Re-invigorating my business has given me the creative outlet I need following big changes in my working and home life, and it gives me great joy to be able to make products that make people smile.”
