Sophie 'art' Baker

Exploring what it means to cherish
wilderness as an Australian in a world where
ecosystems teeter on the edge, Sophie ‘art’
Baker navigates concepts such as ‘Bush
capital’ from the (bike) saddle.
Her impressionist approach to identity and
belonging through painting landscape and
wildlife puts her heart on the line in every
stroke. Sophie invites you to join her in
reflecting on the unique qualities of our local wilderness.
As the weather and light change constantly Sophie paints quickly,

expressing her feelings, capturing the moment and challenging her fears,
one stroke at a time. Each of her paintings has a unique story - capturing
soft moments of mindfulness, joy and hope in Sophie’s fluid and easy
touch.
Combined with a fine art and science degrees and experience working as a
biologist, Questacon Presenter and Professional Development Coordinator
Sophie has a depth of experience which informs both her art and the
artistic learning programs she offers.
Sophie’s learning programs focus on enabling participants to find their own
style and independent artistic intentions, beyond the classroom.
