Bird Brooch
Various brooch designs featuing Gang Gang and Sulfur Crested Cockatoo Parrots or Kookaburras. All birds that visit Canberra. Made from a thin slab of porcelain clay, the birds features are hand painted onto each piece using underglazes. The unfinished brooches are then fired in an electric kiln to 1000 degrees, and gloss glaze added before firing again to 1200 degrees. The brooches are lightly sanded and pins are then secured to each piece. Some brooches have kilt style safety pins and some have pins with a clasp that secures onto the end of the pin to secure the pin in place. Each finished brooch is unique with hand painted touches adding variations.
These are large brooches ranging from 8-9cm approx in length and 3cm wide.
